The Spanish delegation within Horizon Europe's Cluster 3, "Civil Security for Society", organised a series of activities, National Information Day on the 2025 call for Cluster 3, and a European Brokerage event associated with said call, as a part of the International Defence and Security Exhibition of Spain (FEINDEF) 2025 Fair on 12-14 May, 2025. The InfoDay was arranged to spread the main results of developing European Horizon projects under Cluster 3. As an associated project with the cluster, the C2IMPRESS attended the event. Dr. Joan Josep Estrany, Director of RiscBal, Full Professor of Physical Geography, Department of Geography and INAGEA, University of the Balearic Islands, led the delegation of C2IMPRESS and presented at the event.

In a session titled “Success cases per destination”, C2IMPRESS presented its success with the hydrological simulations embedded in the RiscBal-Warnings and the environmental sensing network deployed in the Balearic Islands through almost 100 hydrometric and meteorological stations located in hotspot points for assessing flash-floods. The simulation implements the RiscBal-Warnings, the flash-flood early warning system of the Balearic Islands, Spain. Dr. Estrany presented the hydrological simulations at the session. The simulations are embedded in the RiscBal-Warnings map. Illes Pitiüses, Mallorca, and Menorca of the Balearic Islands are currently available on the system map.

The RiscBal-Control, as the environmental sensing network, is also deployed in the Balearic Islands through almost 100 hydrometric and meteorological stations located in hotspot points for assessing flash floods.

Apart from creating a digital platform, the C2IMPRESS project has developed the Public-Private-Civil Partnership (PPCP) approach for improving disaster risk management and resilience, which is currently applied in the Balearic Islands. This participatory approach helps strengthen territorial resilience and improve local governance to manage climate change-induced risks.

Taking part in the National InfoDay 2025 was crucial for the C2IMPRESS project, as it opened an opportunity to develop a deep and impactful networking process with several potential partners. This consortium is looking forward to implementing multi-hazard preparedness projects in the future. The collaboration will enhance and leverage the technology, methods and citizen awareness across European countries to minimise the risks of natural disasters.

This project is funded by the Horizon Europe Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (HORIZON) under grant agreement No 101074004.
