C2IMPRESS DC&E

The C2IMPRESS consortium has recently participated at the 13th International Conference on Sustainable Development 2025. The conference was organised by the European Center of Sustainable Development in collaboration with CIT University from 10 to 11 September, 2025, in Rome, Italy. The 13th ICSD 2025 addressed the pressing challenges of environmental, economic, and socio-cultural sustainability to ensure a better planet for the present and future generations. Hundreds of academicians, researchers and industry leaders joined the event to address the core and interconnected questions of sustainable development.

This year’s conference theme was "Creating a unified foundation for the Sustainable Development: research, practice and education". The focus was to find a common ground among the environmental, cultural, economic, and social dimensions through a holistic research perspective. The theme emphasised leveraging research results to lay down a strong foundation to inform our everyday practices, policies, and analytical approaches.

A number of delegates from the C2IMPRESS project presented nine research papers in the second session on the second day of the conference. The papers were discussed in two separate segments, which were respectively moderated by Prof. Joan Estrany (Director of RiscBal, Full Professor of Physical Geography, Department of Geography and INAGEA, University of the Balearic Islands) and Dr. Feroz Farazi (Research Associate at the University of Cambridge).

Each paper was discussed and presented by the co-authors. The participation at the 13th ICSD was a part of the C2IMPRESS project’s dissemination activities, as it has demonstrated the key publications in one of the most relevant and renowned public spheres. The papers that are presented by our consortium at the conference are as follows:

About ICSD
ECSDEV is an international, cross-disciplinary centre covering all aspects of the environmental impacts of socio-economic development, founded in Rome on February 10, 2010. The definition of sustainable development follows the Brundtland Commission (1987) as "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs". Concerned with the composite interactions between development and environment, its purpose is to seek ways and means for achieving sustainability in all human activities aimed at such development. Coverage includes interactions among society, environment, and their implications. Research at ECSDEV is integrated with scholars in collaboration with faculties throughout European and Mediterranean universities. The relevance and validity of the research are enhanced through cooperation and agreements with academics and industry associates, with special attention to developing countries.

This project has received funding from the Horizon Europe Framework Programme (HORIZON) Research and Innovation Actions under grant agreement No 101074004
